Year 3
Welcome to Year 3
Welcome to Year 3!
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are so excited to welcome your child back to school and begin this new chapter in Key Stage 2! Year 3 is an important year where children grow in independence, confidence, and curiosity. It will be challenging but incredibly rewarding, and we can’t wait to see their progress. The goal is to make learning enjoyable and meaningful for every child, while helping them develop the skills they need to succeed, with the support of Ms Sidow.
Homework
Homework will be set every Friday and should be returned the following Friday.
Tasks are designed to reinforce classroom learning and develop good study habits.
Please help your child by providing a quiet space and encouraging them to complete work carefully and on time.
Reading – A Key Priority
Reading is one of the most important skills your child will develop this year.
Children should read Phonics books, Accelerated Reading books, and library books regularly at home. Aim for 10–15 minutes of reading each day.
Talking about the story, characters, and new words will help build comprehension and vocabulary.
Reading Record
Reading records must be completed and handed in every Thursday.
Please sign the record each time your child reads. This helps us track progress and celebrate achievements.
Thank you for your continued support in helping your child develop a love of reading and learning.
Miss McDermott
