FODS - Our PTA
Welcome to FODS, Friends of Donnington School charity, I am Ronell the current Chair of FODS and have been in post since April 2022, thank you for stopping by our page
We are the parents, carers and teachers of Donnington Primary School and we form the PTA, Parents and Teachers Association. Our aim is to raise funds through our registered charity, for the school children, through fun and creative events that get people involved. The funds raised are used for; trips for the children, theatre performances and books and year 6 leaver’s gifts, for example, and we would like your support to make the school an amazing and inclusive experience for everyone.
The role of FODS is to work in partnership with the school and develop ways in which we can provide memorable experiences and extracurricular activities, such as, supporting Donnington Sponsored Walk and Bounce, which raised almost £2,000, which is fantastic, well done everyone. Some of the successful events that we have put on for the children and raised funds from, include, The Spooky Party for Halloween, The Winter Fair for Christmas and most recently, The Summer Barbecue, which was a chance for us to celebrate 50 years of Donnington school, as a community and say farewell to Year 6 pupils. Some of the attractions at our events have included bouncy castles, face painting, fresh barbecue food, arts and crafts activities for children, raffles with amazing prizes from our local businesses (Edward’s Bakery, Marina Café, Paris Beauty Salon, Khan’s Butchers and Marks and Spencer), and a 50th cake bake off. Let’s just say, there was plenty of cake.
Everything raised through partnership working between FODS and the school, has enabled our children to go on educational visits and to have entertaining workshops. These experiences are important for children to enjoy a broad curriculum and engage in stimulating learning experiences, which supports their all-round development. FODS support the school children in all areas of development, including physical and emotional health and wellbeing, educational and extracurricular activities, and parents and carers are communicated to on a regular basis in order of keeping a good and strong relationship. Many parents and carers volunteer their support when events are happening and this is priceless as we are all volunteers, working together to make our school community and any new parents and carers, feel welcome and appreciated.
At present there have been many new developments within the FODS team, which we are very proud of. We have new volunteers on board, thank you all, and we have launched WhatsApp year groups as well as expanding our FODS main WhatsApp group so that we can give regular updates on what is happening. We are also launching our first ever FODS newsletter 2022 and our Facebook page, which we are excited about. It is great to have such wonderful people helping FODS and supporting the school, as volunteers and out of the goodness of their hearts. We are looking for more support and if you would like to get involved and have fun whilst raising funds for a good cause, then please contact me or a member of our committee via the details below. All skills that you have are useful.
All information about upcoming meetings, events or celebrations will be displayed in our FODS notice board, which is next to the schoolhouse, near to the office. If you want more information about what we do or how you can help us, all details are below. In the school new term in September 2022, we hope to have a suggestion box for you to submit your ideas/compliments/feedback.

FODS Friends of Donnington School
Hello to all and welcome to Friends of Donnington School (FODS).
As parents, we are all part of the Parents and Teachers Association and play a vital and equal role in the success of our school. FODS has been set up to encourage close links between ourselves (parents) and the school, and one of our most important roles is organising fundraising events. As well as being great fun for children and adults alike, the money we raise goes back into the school to provide the best possible resources and equipment to benefit our children. Projects such as the Christmas Cracker pull; presents from Father Christmas and Year 6 leaving gifts are a few of the things FODS have helped to pay for. More importantly, money raised by FODS has enabled children to go on educational visits and to have special visitors and workshops in the school – these experiences are vital if we want our children to enjoy a broad curriculum and engaging and stimulating learning experiences.
As parents, we need to work collaboratively to develop a school community that is passionate about providing the very best for each and every child. This can only be done as part of a concerted effort from us all – working together towards a common goal.
So, if you would like to get involved (no matter how little or how much) please contact the school office, your child’s class teacher or speak to a member of the committee. We meet usually once every half term when the teams plan and organise the various events that occur over the course of the school year and we are always looking for new ideas. We will send out letters or texts to keep you informed of what’s going on so please try to get involved and have your say!
