English Curriculum

It is extremely important that children are still encouraged to read at home.

Please listen to your child read at least once a week and leave a comment in his/her reading record.

All children are encouraged to read daily, for at least 15-20minutes.

Your child will come home with two books weekly: a banded book (Accelerated Reader book for KS2 and a Phonics book for KS1) as well as a book for pleasure.

Here are some websites where your child will be able to find books they can read online at home or listen to books being read to them.

Oak National Academy Virtual Library This website has an author of the week and each week there is a book to read for free.

Brent E Library While Brent’s libraries are closed, it is free to join their e-libraries. Information on joining can be found on the Donnington website.

Story time from Space Here you can find astronauts reading books to children from Space.

Some anti-boredom fun! This website shares extracts and activities from Andy Seed’s books, including ‘The Anti-Boredom Book of Brilliant Things To Do.’
